Not long
to go…
Find Dad's next project this Father's Day. Whether he's built every Spitfire under the sun, or hasn't opened a kit since the 80s, we've got something for every type of modeller. The Dad who built Airfix as a kid.
A returning builder will love a classic subject. Something he remembers from the catalogue, but with all the detail of modern tooling.
Featured kit Supermarine Spitfire Mk.XII A05117A | 1:48 The Dad who's never tried.
Quickbuild slots together in an afternoon. No glue. No paint. Just a quiet hour and a finished model.
Featured kit QuickBuild Spitfire J6000 | snap-fit The Dad who's never going to stop.
The shelf is full. The spare room has a theme. He needs something big, detailed, and likely to keep him quiet until October.

Celebrating 90 Years of the Spitfire at Shuttleworth from Airfix (Mon, 15 Jun 2026 15:05:52 +0000)
Celebrating 90 Years of the Spitfire at ShuttleworthRelive the highlights from two spectacular 2026 season-opening airshows at Old Warden. ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏
Shuttleworth start 2026 with Spitfire tributes
For this latest edition of Aerodrome, we celebrate the start of the 2026 airshow season by revisiting two events held at the delightful grass airfield of Old Warden, a venue which traditionally hosts the first major airshow of each new season. This year, I have been fortunate enough to attend two major airshows organised by the Shuttleworth Collection at their home airfield, both featuring tributes to the Supermarine Spitfire during the 90th anniversary year of the first flight of prototype Supermarine Type 300 K5045, the aircraft that would evolve into one of history's most iconic fighters. In total, 20,351 Spitfires were produced.
It’s chocks away for a Spitfire anniversary celebration in the latest edition of Airfix Aerodrome.Read more Did you hear the latest?
