After a few re-releases, our first new releases of 2023 are now available from this site. We are planning a rather large number of new releases for this new year, and those should encompass most, if not all, of our ranges. We are always keen to hear what YOU would like to see RetrokiT release next, feel free to drop us a line. We have in the past met many such requests!
Show-wise, we are still only planning to attend a handful of shows during 2023, a trend that should continue in the future as time remains a limited ressource. Our calendar page is up-to-date, have a look at it!

The Tarangus kit is brand new and all plastic, no more difficult resin parts as in the previous Tunnan kit, which was very popular and sold out real fast. We really like getting feedback about our releases, old or new. Having for over 10 years now designed cockpit detail sets for a great many 1/144 aircraft kits, we were made aware that we should have released a lot more sets of ejection seats that could be used in kits that have not, for a reason or another, received the 8216RetroWings treatment8217. And so, starting next month, we will try to remedy to this situation. Talking to you Guys (and Gals!) is important to us, sometimes we do not see the obvious and those exchanges, be them face to face at shows, on Facebook or via e-mails are important to keep us meeting your expectations and demands. So, do not hesitate getting in touch with us!
The end of March 2023, as promised, brings us our latest World War Toons conversion kit, illustrated above. More of those conversions are being prepared (M75, M37, StuG III ausf.G to name but three), but we are not forgetting our other ranges and we have quite a neat series of other new products still to be released this year. So keep visiting our Facebook page to be kept abreast of what8217s cooking!

Vallejo, empresa líder especializada en la fabricación de pinturas acrílicas de base agua, se reposiciona y estrena nueva imagen de marca.
A comienzos de 2020, Acrylicos Vallejo decidió dar un cambio de rumbo a la estrategia de la compañía, que empieza a ver la luz hoy.
Desde que Amadeo Vallejo estableciera en 1965 la compañía en New Jersey antes de regresar a España, la actividad principal siempre ha sido la elaboración de los colores acrílicos; desde finales de los 60 para estudios de animación, los primeros acrílicos para bellas artes se producen en los años 70, hasta llegar a las primeras gamas para modelismo formuladas en los inicios de los 90.
En 2022, Vallejo vuelve a dar un golpe de timón para consolidarse como el referente mundial de pinturas acrílicas de base agua. Y lo quiere conseguir mejorando la formulación de sus pinturas y estableciendo nuevos vínculos emocionales con el cliente final. Para tal fin, ha apostado por la consultora de marca BrandStocker, que desde 2020 está trabajando en el posicionamiento, la arquitectura de marcas y la identidad visual de la compañía.
“Desprendernos de nuestra vieja identidad era un paso que nos ha costado mucho dar, pero a tenor del resultado tendríamos que haberlo dado mucho antes. Ya no somos una marca en blanco y negro, somos un crisol de colores… nuestra razón de ser.” Alexander Vallejo, CEO de Vallejo.
Vallejo es de las pocas marcas que elaboran sus propias pinturas acrílicas, de hecho, lleva haciéndolo desde hace más de 50 años. Esto la convierte en una fuente única de experiencia y conocimiento de las necesidades de los clientes. En otro sentido, Vallejo ha sido históricamente una marca que ha estado, y está, muy presente en los procesos creativos de muchos artistas y modelistas, siendo en muchas ocasiones “facilitadora” de su inspiración. Por eso, su nuevo posicionamiento de marca queda recogido en el tagline: “Inspiring Experience”.

El eje que articula la estrategia de marca nace de sus principales valores: Know-how, Cercanía, Experiencia, y Calidad. Curiosamente, Vallejo es percibida como una empresa cercana, pero esto se debe principalmente a su amplia red de distribución. Por eso, el principal reto que asume la compañía es ser cercana… de verdad, es decir, establecer relaciones con sus usuarios más allá de lo meramente comercial.


En el plano visual cabe destacar que ahora el imagotipo se sustenta sobre dos colores, el negro tradicional (asociado a la calidad y a la experiencia) y el azul verdoso Lake Blue (que apela al know-how y a la innovación). Si se pone el foco en el logotipo se puede apreciar una tipografía personalizada, que ha tenido en cuenta las imperfecciones e idiosincrasia de una compañía familiar que la han convertido en todo un referente mundial. Aunque lo más relevante de la nueva identidad visual es que ahora Vallejo tiene un símbolo. La marca anterior tenía una composición compleja por su forma cuadrada. Esto hacía que no se aprovechasen bien los espacios y tuviera problemas de legibilidad en el mundo digital.
“Vallejo es un apellido, un apellido con solera, por eso nos parecía apropiado que tanto el símbolo como el logotipo fueran una “V” mayúscula que reivindique el legado de la familia Vallejo-Safranek”. Rubén Galgo, CEO de BrandStocker.
Dado que el territorio de marca es la inspiración,se ha buscado que el símbolo fuera un contenedor de la misma. Que Vallejo sea de las pocas marcas de pintura que fabrican sus propias pinturas era una particularidad que tenía que estar en la nueva marca. Una de las herramientas fundamentales de todo fabricante de pinturas es la tolva (ese recipiente de forma cónica donde se deposita la pintura antes de ser envasada) ¿quién si no Vallejo puede tener un símbolo inspirado en una tolva propia?… un símbolo que sea un contenedor de creatividad e inspiración.
Además, el símbolo es una abstracción del gesto que hace una mano para cargar de pintura un pincel. Precisamente el concepto de “contenedor” está también presente en el universo gráfico (look&feel) y en la arquitectura de marcas. Si bien la marca matriz se construye con un símbolo en Lake Blue, en las gamas de producto se tiñe de los colores tradicionales de cada gama.
La nueva estrategia se irá implementando paulatinamente en Vallejo durante los próximos meses y afectará a todos los ámbitos de la compañía: innovación, producción, distribución, financiero y comunicación. En definitiva, serán cambios necesarios para apuntalar a Vallejo como el color de la creatividad de sus consumidores.
